The Ruins of Furness Abbey

Furness Abbey is situated quite a way outside central barrow up near to Furness General hospital.

Directly opposite the turning for hawcoat lane there is an archway onto Abbey Approach.

Nearby there is a cafe called Abbey Mill Coffee Shop situated at the start of a public footpath from Furness Abbey to Flass Lane in Roose. Towards the north end (Abbey Road) of Furness Abbey is a footpath to Dalton-in-Furness.

Quite nearby is a Travelodge with Dominoes Pizza Outlet and nearby ASDA Supermarket. Also for contractors there is affordable more long term accommodation in form of flats costing as little as 250 - 300 pounds a month.

Abbey Road is a good location in which to get your bearings especially by car but this road is also useful because it is on a major bus route. This road also you right into the centre of Barrow (including the train station) and also out of Barrow to nearby Dalton-in-furness.
