Bridge of River Eea dividing Devonshire Square and The Square. Cartmel is known well for it's Race Course, Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding and L'enclume among many other established venues.
Simply named - The Square, this section of Cartmel has the Priory Hotel has seven ensuite bedrooms plus a dining area with daytime and evening menus.
Market Cross Cottage is an ensuite Bed & Breakfast with cafe situated right next to The Gatehouse (which is the entry to The Square) and diagonally opposite Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding shop.
Good sized pub The Cavendish Arms also provides accommodation both in the pub itself and above the shop Perfect English. Needless to say if you are looking for a place to stay with the added benefit of pub grub and real ale this is a good place to stop.
In the summer months you may be looking for a more outdoor sort of accommodation in which case you can camp at Cartmel Park which is based at Wells House Farm. They also offer lodges to purchase for more regular holidays.
If you are keen to rent a holiday cottage then a good place to start is Lakeland Cottage Company. They have properties across Cartmel including 3 Church View (Opposite Cartmel Priory), Wheelhouse Cottage (near L'enclume), 1 Bridge Cottages (near Pig and Whistle pub) and many more in the immediate area.
Pubs within The Square include The Kings Arms, Royal Oak both of which are next door to each other.
Also on Cavendish Street there is the Cavendish Arms and on Aynsome Road there is the Pig & Whistle.
