Arnside's main shopping street which has various outlets along the road which follows the coastline
Arnside Railway Station
View from the station platform crossing out to sea
The long station platform holds the many travellers that visit each year. There is some sheltered/unsheltered seating and a brick building which purpose is unknown currently.
Parking in the immediate area is restricted to 1 hour so is not suitable to drive to the station and then travel by train, however parking is available towards the end of station road and the prominade.
Parking in Arnside
Overflow parking to allow for full on street parking
There is plenty of on street parking along the prominade and just in case it's crammed solid with floods of visitors there is additional parking next to the viaduct.
Arnside Pier with lots of seating and views of woodland and the viaduct
The pier built in 1983/84 (according to the plaque) has a relatively central location on the prominade.
Arnside to Grange Viaduct
The Railway viaduct is great to watch trains travel over but even better to travel over yourself
The viaduct is used for trains traveling from Arnside to Grange-Over-Sand over the Kent Estuary. Travelling on the viaduct boast great sea views as well as of woodland areas and rolling hills. It's just as nice sitting along the prominade or on the pier watching the trains going over.
Plans at one stage were to allow pedestriens to walk across however currently this is not possible.
Getting Peckish on your Daytrip
Ye Olde Fighting Cocks - a large pub to accommodate the hordes of visitors to the area
If eating out in Arnside there's plenty to choose from on a single day outing such as the Chip shop, The Heron Cafe and if your just looking to cool yourself down on a hot summers day across from the pier there is a shop that sells Lakeland ice-cream which is a higher class of ice-cream but there are also ice-cream vans on the promenade during the summer months if you need to keep the kids happy.
There is also the Ye Olde Fighting Cocks pub which you can visit for a slap up pub meal and a pint (quality of that pint unknown). It also provides en-suite accommodation.
